Escola La Canaleta

Escola La Canaleta is a public school in Vila-seca that provides early childhood and primary education. Students are organized into small, medium, and large groups. The center offers a school cafeteria service, has an AFA, and features its own digital space, and maintains a presence on Instagram.

Throughout the school year, the school develops various activities. The fifth-grade students organize the Locofestival, a solidarity festival whose proceeds go to the NGO Aknur, which helps refugees. The fourth-grade groups participate in the sardana dance that brings together schools from the Vila-seca area, in the cantata Pirates a la vista held at the Celler de Vila-seca, in a trip to learn about the Roman heritage of Tarragona, and in a project that culminates with a blood donation at the school. In sixth grade, the PCMat project is carried out, which combines computational thinking with mathematics to improve problem-solving skills. The school also celebrates the Jocs Florals, with participation from all students in writing stories, poems, and other texts; a reading aloud competition; Physical Education Day in the street; International Nature Day; and the Christmas Festival, in which all grades participate.

The center also maintains a school garden, whose vegetables are sold by the students of the welcome classroom, and receives visits that bring students closer to popular culture, such as those from the Diables de Vila-seca and the Castellers de Vila-seca.
