Atenea

IES Atenea is a public center in San Sebastián de los Reyes that has been functioning as a Secondary Education and Baccalaureate institute since the 2002-03 academic year. It is one of the five public centers in the municipality and serves over 900 students in Compulsory Secondary Education, Baccalaureate, and Basic Vocational Training. Its educational offerings include Compulsory Secondary Education (12-16 years), Baccalaureate (16-18 years), and a Basic Vocational Training program. In terms of languages, the center teaches Spanish, English, and French.

The center is affiliated with several networks and programs. Since 2016, it has been part of the Bilingual Centers network of the Community of Madrid; since 2019, it has been part of the network of Institutes Promoting Physical Activity and Sports; and since 2023, it is authorized to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. Among its projects are Erasmus+, Bilingualism, Mindfulness, School Garden, Library, Mythological Houses, Atenea on Stage, Atenea in Digital Growth, Listen Atenea, Melting The Iceberg, The Tree We Are, and With ATENEA Live, among others. The center has a Parent-Teacher Association (AMPA) and provides secretarial, admission, and enrollment services, as well as a virtual classroom.

In terms of facilities, it has a library, sports hall, football field, athletics track, laboratory, computer room, auditorium, and gym. It offers cafeteria services, school transportation, and extracurricular activities. Its faculty is organized into teaching departments such as Biology and Geology, Drawing and Plastic and Visual Education, Economics, Physical Education, Philosophy, Physics and Chemistry, French, Geography and History, English, Latin and Greek, Language and Literature, Mathematics, Music, Guidance, Religion, and Technology.
