Gonzalo Torrente Ballester

IES Gonzalo Torrente Ballester is a public secondary school in San Sebastián de los Reyes that offers compulsory secondary education (ESO) and Bachillerato (upper secondary, ages 16–18), as well as vocational training (FP). It has diversification programs and PMAR. Its educational community is presented as a space where students should feel "at home". The center has a mediation team and publishes its own magazine.

Among its initiatives are projects linked to the Erasmus+ program, such as Green Teens, focused on sustainability and the environment, and the Sustainable Schools Program, within which the Environment Day is celebrated. Students engage in academic orientation activities and work on cybersecurity, with presentations developed in the Technology and Digitalization subject of 3rd year ESO. The center also participates in European Authors Day and has collaborated in the campaign "Fall in Love with Research" with a donation to the CRIS Against Cancer Foundation.

The institute organizes stays and educational outings, such as the 1st year ESO students' visit to the Active Village Abioncillo and the El Álamo School Farm. Molecular Biology lab practices are carried out in 2nd year Bachillerato, visits to GREFA to learn about the care and rehabilitation of wild birds, and field studies in the Lozoya valley, La Morcuera, and Doñana. Additionally, the Art Department develops projects related to gender violence.
