Institut Xaloc

Institut Xaloc is a public educational center located in Les Roquetes, in Sant Pere de Ribes. It offers compulsory secondary education (ESO) and Bachillerato (upper secondary, ages 16–18), with Spanish and Catalan as the languages of instruction. It has a Parents' Association (AFA) that collaborates on various initiatives and uses digital platforms like iEduca and Google Classroom.

Throughout the school year, various activities and projects take place. In 3rd year of ESO, students work on robotics with LEGO Spike, a resource that allows them to build and program robots, fostering logical thinking, teamwork, and creativity. The 4th year ESO students participate in a Service Learning project at the biomass plant in Sant Pere de Ribes, where they learn about the operation of this renewable energy source and work on sustainability. Competency tests for 4th year ESO are also conducted to assess basic competencies. The center organizes a mathematics photography contest in collaboration with the AFA, a solidarity chocolate event to raise funds for childhood cancer research, and a winter festival at the Centre Cívic de Les Roquetes. Additionally, open house days are held to introduce the educational project to families. As part of the Lèxcit program, volunteer students from the center accompany primary school children to improve their reading comprehension. Furthermore, improvements have been made to the facilities, such as the refurbishment of work tables for workshops, thanks to students from the technological project. At the beginning of the school year, tutors meet with families to explain how the course operates.
