San Nicasio

IES San Nicasio is a public educational center located in Leganés, operating since 1988. Its work is focused on the development of students' personalities based on respect for democratic principles of coexistence and fundamental rights and freedoms. It offers Compulsory Secondary Education for students aged 12 to 16, with instruction in Spanish, English, and French, and has facilities such as a laboratory and gym, as well as extracurricular activities. The center is recognized as a Promoter Center for Physical and Sports Activity, a preferred center for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (TEA), and a center with a Link Classroom.

Throughout the school year, it develops complementary activities and its own projects. These include trips to museums and the Royal Botanical Garden, sports activities such as canoeing and orienteering in Polvoranca Park, participation in the EcoSchools Meeting of Leganés, a literary contest honoring Benjamín Prado, and the Intercenters Mathematical Photography Contest of Leganés. The computer science students of 1st year of ESO also take trips to technological facilities, and the center maintains a debate team that receives activities as recognition for their work. The graduation of 4th year of ESO students is also celebrated at the end of the stage.

In 4th year of ESO, the center participates in the 4th ESO+Company program, which offers voluntary educational stays in companies as a complement to the curriculum. These stays aim to bring students closer to the labor market, put into practice the knowledge acquired in the classroom, gain practical experience, and help guide their professional future. The transportation to the centers for the stays is the responsibility of the students, without accompanying teachers, and the activity is included in the center's Annual General Programming.
