La Fortuna

IES La Fortuna is a public secondary school in Leganés, affiliated with the Madrid-Sur Territorial Area Directorate and dependent on the Ministry of Education and Research of the Community of Madrid. It was inaugurated in the 1986-87 school year under the name LEGANÉS VII and is currently the only secondary and Bachillerato school in the neighborhood that bears its name. It offers compulsory secondary education (ESO) and Bachillerato, with Spanish and English among its languages, and has services such as a cafeteria, school transport, and extracurricular activities. Its facilities include a library, sports hall, football field, laboratory, computer room, and school garden.

The institute occupies five buildings surrounded by a garden with more than 60 botanical species, which have been developed over generations of students through the work of specialist teachers in the area of Botany. The center also opens in the afternoon to carry out activities linked to various programs and projects aimed at its students, such as IPAFD, the Refuerza program, the Library (Tardes que suman), and other initiatives promoted by the Leganés City Council. Additionally, the center has its own digitalization project and participates in the PROA+ FSE+ program.
