About the school

The Rosa Parks center is a public special education school located in Coslada, in the Ciudad 70 area. Its educational offerings include Special Early Childhood Education for students aged 3 to 6; Compulsory Basic Education (EBO) for ages 6 to 16, extendable up to 18; and a Training Workshop for Commercial Services, which continues until the end of the school year in which the student turns 21. The school hours are from 9 AM to 2 PM in September and June, and from 9 AM to 3:30 PM from October to May. Among its complementary services, it offers free school transport for established routes and also a free cafeteria.

The center develops three main projects: the School Garden Project, the Social Skills Project, and the School Patios Project. The basic lines of its educational project aim to enhance the comprehensive training of students, adapting to their abilities and needs to achieve full development in personal, social, and labor areas, as well as good quality of life and social inclusion in their environment. The educational community seeks to promote equal opportunities and personalized education, with an inclusive center that fosters positive coexistence, participation, reflection, openness, democracy, and flexibility. Families occupy a central place: the center provides emotional support in response to the special educational needs of their children and maintains an open character, involving them in daily routines and the educational process. Their participation is articulated through the School Council and the AMPA.

The teaching staff includes management team, guidance service, tutors specializing in Therapeutic Pedagogy, and specialist teachers in Physical Education, Music, Catholic Religion, and Hearing and Language, in addition to a teacher from the Commercial Services workshop. The non-teaching staff includes physiotherapists, nursing staff, social integration technicians, specialist technicians, administrative assistants, janitors, and kitchen and cafeteria staff. The center organizes complementary activities throughout the school year, with a common thread agreed upon by the Faculty, which in the 25-26 school year revolves around the media, and promotes working commissions such as the Patios Commission and the SAAC and Dynamic Communicators Commission.
