Luis Garcia Berlanga

IES Luis García Berlanga is a public secondary school located in Coslada (Madrid). It offers compulsory secondary education (ESO) and Bachillerato (upper secondary, ages 16–18), the latter of which is available in three modalities: Sciences, Social Sciences, and Humanities. The school is bilingual in Spanish and English: ESO students have been taking the bilingual curriculum of the Community of Madrid since the 2011-2012 academic year.

In 1st year of ESO, the bilingual program is organized into Section and Program. The Section is aimed at those who certify an A2 level of language proficiency from bilingual schools, or a B1 level if they come from non-bilingual centers, and their admission also takes into account their academic record and end-of-stage report. The remaining students are integrated into the Program. Both groups receive five hours per week of English or advanced English, in addition to other subjects taught in English, which are more numerous in the Section. The institute also has learning improvement programs.

The school has a cafeteria, a snack service, and complementary and extracurricular activities, which it considers relevant within its curricular project. The guidance department consists of one counselor, two subject teachers, and one therapeutic pedagogy teacher, and there is a Parents' Association (AMPA). Its educational project understands education as a lifelong learning process shared by the entire educational community, aimed at developing the emotional, intellectual, and social capacities of students in an inclusive environment of respect and freedom, and promoting democratic coexistence, respect for individual differences, and solidarity.
