Fray Pedro Ponce De León

The CPEE Fray Pedro Ponce de León is a public special education school located in the center of Burgos and dependent on the Junta de Castilla y León. It serves students with functional diversity in the stages of Special Early Childhood Education, Compulsory Basic Education (EBO), and Transition to Adult Life Programs (PTVA). The center has two buildings unified by an extension and features facilities such as a home classroom, playgrounds, a playroom, a library, a swimming pool, and multisensory rooms. It offers dining and school transport services, and teaching is conducted in Spanish.

Its educational project is based on personalized, functional education connected to the environment. It provides intellectually stimulating teaching that builds on the strengths of the students and adjusts pedagogical intervention to their needs, developmental rhythms, abilities, and preferences. Clear academic objectives are set and shared by all involved sectors, and suitable methodological resources are selected for each case, considering spaces, times, and activities. Maximum communication between the school and families is promoted, as well as collaboration with local institutions to foster social and labor integration. The center encourages opportunities for socio-community integration and participation and ensures the physical well-being of the students.
