About the school

Nausica is a private center in Barcelona that offers early childhood education for ages 0 to 6, primary education for ages 6 to 12, compulsory secondary education (ESO) for ages 12 to 16, and Bachillerato (upper secondary, ages 16–18), the latter under the designation of CIC Bachilleratos.

The center organizes much of its learning through project-based work. This approach stems from the real questions and interests of the students and turns their curiosity into opportunities for learning: starting from a question or a nearby situation, students investigate, formulate hypotheses, contrast information, seek data, make decisions, and construct knowledge. In this way, learning is not presented in isolation but is interconnected and acquires a global sense, with students as protagonists of their own process. An example of this approach is the project Ciutat de ratolins, developed in first grade: starting from a question about at what age baby teeth fall out, the children collected data from all classes, observed, asked, recorded, compared, and drew conclusions, and the process later led to the creation of a city for mice, where they researched professions and services, made decisions, and constructed different spaces, reading and writing with a real purpose. The center also develops language proposals linked to Catalan cultural heritage, such as work around Catalan mythology, where students invent characters and discover legends and fantastic beings from popular tradition.

In the mathematical field, the center works from a competency-based, manipulative, and meaningful perspective, with learning based on dialogue, active observation, and solving open challenges, where there can be multiple creative answers. The center has the support of Innovamat and mathematical spaces as part of this proposal.
