Ies San Blas

IES San Blas is a public secondary education center located in the San Blas-Santo Domingo district of Alacant/Alicante. It offers compulsory secondary education (ESO) and Bachillerato (upper secondary, ages 16–18). It has a Linguistic Project of the Center (PLC) that articulates the application of the Plurilingual and Intercultural Education Program, in accordance with Law 4/2018 of the Generalitat Valenciana, which regulates and promotes multilingualism in the Valencian educational system. This project specifies the distribution of subjects according to the language of instruction and includes the objectives of plurilingual and intercultural education for students, as well as the specific objectives of the center.

Teaching is distributed among Valencian, Spanish, and foreign languages. In ESO, some subjects are taught in Valencian — such as Valencian: Language and Literature and tutoring, along with other subjects that vary by course — while the rest are taught in Spanish. English is the first foreign language and French is the second, both present at different levels. In 1st ESO, electives such as Oral Communication Skills in English, Audiovisual Creation Laboratory, and Responsible Digital Relationships Workshop are offered. In Bachillerato, Valencian: Language and Literature is also taught in Valencian, with the rest of the subjects in Spanish, and English and French are maintained as foreign languages.
