About the school

CEIP Alfonso Rodríguez Castelao is a bilingual public school in the Community of Madrid located in Móstoles. It offers the second cycle of Early Childhood Education (3-6 years), a free and voluntary stage focused on the comprehensive development of students in their physical, emotional, social, and intellectual dimensions, with work on autonomy, exploration of the environment, healthy habits, and a first approach to mathematical logic and literacy. It also provides Primary Education (6-12 years), mandatory and free, organized into six courses and three cycles, aimed at acquiring basic competencies and values such as respect, equality, and coexistence, and includes oral and written expression, calculation, critical thinking, creativity, autonomy, and peaceful conflict resolution.

Since the 2005/2006 school year, the center has participated in the Bilingual Teaching Program of the Community of Madrid, with the aim of helping students develop communicative competencies in English. It has qualified teachers and native conversation assistants, and is affiliated with the Antonio Gala Bilingual Secondary Education Institute to provide continuity to this training. Students can certify their level of linguistic competence free of charge according to the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Additionally, it has been a Preferred TEA Center since the 2010/2011 school year, within the Network of Preferred Attention Centers of the Community of Madrid, with specialized educational attention for students with needs arising from Autism Spectrum Disorder. This attention is realized in the Fish Classroom, a space with extensive and specialized educational support involving qualified teachers and specialists.

Its educational project combines active methodologies with traditional resources, new technologies, manipulative materials, and innovation projects, respecting the different rhythms, capacities, and interests of students. The faculty is mostly permanent and maintains a close relationship and active collaboration with families. The center offers lunch and school breakfast services, as well as complementary activities organized by the school itself.
