Colegio Norte is a semi-private school for early childhood education, primary, and secondary education located in the Guanarteme neighborhood, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. It was founded in 1962 and took its name from the northern access road of the island, where it was initially located; in 1984 it moved to its current location. It also includes El Iglú, a first cycle nursery for children aged 0 to 2 years, and has been supporting families in the neighborhood for over six decades.
Its educational project is structured around three values: closeness, commitment, and innovation. Coexistence is guided by the Four Pillars — equality, responsibility, respect, and tolerance — with murals dedicated to each one, worked on transversally and adapted to each stage. Methodologically, Emocrea brings emotional education into the classroom: it is mandatory in primary and in secondary, the school participates in a pilot program from the University of La Laguna. It also employs Innovamat in mathematics, with a manipulative and visual approach, and Snappet, an adaptive platform that generates progress reports. Chess is incorporated biweekly into the mathematics classroom in collaboration with the Chess Club Fundación La Caja.
Among its services are early reception from 7:30 to 8:30, daily dining — with a menu aligned with the NAOS strategy and based on the Mediterranean diet, and special diets for allergies or conditions — and supervised study and consultation from 2nd of early childhood education to 2nd of compulsory secondary education, with reinforcement for 3rd and 4th of compulsory secondary education. On Friday afternoons, there is a playroom. The Guidance Department (Brújula) monitors academic, personal, and social development, and the Languages Department teaches English and German from the age of 3 to 4th of compulsory secondary education, being an examiner center for Trinity College. Communication with families is channeled through the Esemtia platform. Extracurricular activities for ages 3 to 16 include native English, football school, dance, expression, creativity workshop, taekwondo, and robotics, and the school has Timón, its tutoring academy for primary, secondary, and Bachillerato, in addition to the Brújula newsletter.
