Jose Jalon

C.E.I.P. José Jalón is a public school in Navalcarnero, in the Covadonga neighborhood, south of the Community of Madrid, about 32 kilometers from the capital via the Extremadura highway. It began its activities in the 1983/84 school year in the pavilion that today houses third to sixth grade of Primary Education. In 1990, a second building was inaugurated, and the center became a permanent integration center for students with special educational needs, with specialized classrooms and first and second grade groups of Primary Education. In the 2003/04 school year, the buildings for Early Childhood Education, cafeteria, and administration were incorporated, along with the sports pavilion.

It offers Early Childhood Education and Primary Education in Spanish and has large playgrounds in its various pavilions, a school cafeteria, library, gym, and sports complex. Among its complementary services are the cafeteria, the program 'Los primeros del cole', and complementary and extracurricular activities. It has a Parents' Association (AMPA) that offers activities, addresses family demands, and collaborates with the school on various initiatives throughout the year.

The center has 6 units of Early Childhood Education and 14 of Primary Education, and enrolls students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, as well as students with special educational needs. It is surrounded by sports facilities and single-family homes, and the rapid growth of the municipality means that many of its families come from other localities. Its name honors José Jalón Carrasco, a teacher at the National School of Navalcarnero around 1930, who promoted activities for knowledge and respect for nature, whose work was recognized with the title of Knight of the Order of Isabella the Catholic.
