Virgen De Las Angustias

Virgen de las Angustias is a semi-private school in Granada that offers Early Childhood Education and Primary Education. It is defined as a Christian school whose mission is to educate free and fulfilled individuals from Christian love, integrating academic, human, and spiritual training. Its declared purpose is to educate with love and transform with the Gospel, and its values revolve around love, justice, service, joy, effort, creativity, and empathy.

Its pedagogical model is based on the development of the student, respecting their learning pace and reasoning abilities. Learning is presented as meaningful, establishing connections between the new and what has already been learned, and priority is given to emotional demands in the development of cognitive processes and academic achievements. Teachers act as mediators: they provoke, organize, and prepare materials. In the Early Childhood stage, from 3 to 6 years old, the project is supported by a constructivist perspective in which children build their knowledge through experimentation and play, using Montessori materials and sensory experiences that stimulate autonomous learning. The emotional dimension is nurtured in a warm and safe environment, and early contact with languages is introduced through songs and games. In Primary, curiosity and teamwork are encouraged. The center also offers the first cycle of Early Childhood Education (0-3) and works with Spanish and English.

Among the available services are the morning classroom, designed for families with early work schedules, the school cafeteria, and extracurricular activities aimed at the personal development of students. The center also has an AMPA, a non-profit association that collaborates in various actions and activities. It is part of a foundation with more than seventy years of experience since 1953 and with eleven centers spread across Granada.
