CEIP San José Tablas is a public school for early childhood and primary education located in the center of Granada. The school presents itself as a multicultural community that educates in values of respect and solidarity, with cultural diversity understood as one of its main riches. Its educational project aims to accommodate different worldviews and support the growth of students as free, committed, and happy individuals.
The teaching is multilingual, focused on French and English, and also offers the free opportunity to learn other languages. The school has a morning classroom from 7:30 to 9:00, extracurricular activities from 16:00 to 18:00, and a parents' association (AMPA). It has speech therapy classrooms, therapeutic pedagogy, an orientation team, early attention, and linguistic support, as well as a school accompaniment program. It is a center open to digital technologies and has a library. It organizes cultural activities with groups and institutions in the city and maintains preferential access to public high schools such as IES Padre Suárez, IES Padre Manjón, and IES Ángel Ganivet.
The building it occupies was formerly the Palace of Riquelme, the birthplace of Francisco de Paula Martínez de la Rosa in 1767. In the 1960s, the Daughters of Charity began teaching at the school after the necessary reforms. In the early 1980s, the Ministry of Education took charge of the building in a first phase, and later, the Junta de Andalucía, at which point it became a public school.
