About the school

Escola Mediterrània is a public center for early childhood and primary education located in the Barceloneta neighborhood of Barcelona. It offers the second cycle of Early Childhood Education and the Primary stage. The center has a library and a porch where some activities take place.

The parents' association (AFA) of the center organizes an extracurricular activities program each year for early childhood and primary students. Among the proposals are cricket, robotics, scientific experiments, theater, hockey, swimming, plastic arts, yoga, dance, sports initiation, volleyball, sailing school, taekwondo, skateboarding, roller skating, and English, the latter also for early childhood. Some of these activities are promoted by the Barcelona City Council through the Extra! Extra! project, within the Caixa d'Eines of the Pla de Barris, and are subsidized. Others are carried out in collaboration with entities such as the Catalan Cricket Federation, the Barcelona Swimming Club (CNB), and the Associació Esportiva Ciutat Vella, which also proposes a paddle surf activity on the Barceloneta beach. Enrollment in extracurricular activities requires being a member of the AFA.

The center also hosts a summer camp organized by Anèl·lides, themed around sports and the sea focusing on marine biology in Barceloneta. Throughout the year, the AFA also promotes family activities, such as the autumn festival and the family disco.
