About the school

Colegio Base is a private, secular, and independent school located in La Moraleja, Alcobendas, that has been educating students from 1 to 18 years old since 1962. It offers Early Childhood Education, Primary, Secondary, and Baccalaureate, integrating in the latter stage the National Baccalaureate, the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, and, starting from 2nd year of ESO, the American Dual Baccalaureate, which allows obtaining both the Spanish diploma and the American High School diploma simultaneously. It is an IB World School, with the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the authorized Diploma Programme, and the Primary Years Programme (PYP) being implemented, and is part of the UNESCO Schools network and the Eco-Schools program.

English is the medium of instruction from the first year of Early Childhood, with native educators, and the teaching is supported by project-based learning and the IB methodology. The school prepares students for Cambridge exams, achieving B1 level by the end of Primary, C1 in 4th year of ESO, and C2 in Baccalaureate, and offers French or German from 5th grade, with official DELF and Goethe exams. In Early Childhood, groups consist of 12 students per classroom. In Secondary, the IB MYP is studied, and at 16 years old, students present a personal project to the educational community. The National Baccalaureate is organized into the modalities of Social Sciences and Humanities, Science and Technology, and Arts.

Among its facilities are a swimming pool, football field, laboratory, and gym, and it offers a cafeteria service and extracurricular activities. The school day runs from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM and is complemented by a free and optional extended schedule from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM and from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM. The Culture of Care acts as a transversal axis, with staff training in safeguarding, background checks, and references in hiring, as well as a zero-tolerance protocol against bullying, with accessible channels for students. The continuity of the teaching staff (94% have been at the school for more than one year) and support for families complete its proposal. In the 2025-26 promotion, 97.5% of the National Baccalaureate students passed the PAU, with an average score of 7.89 out of 10, and the IB Diploma recorded an average score of 33 out of 45.
