Alonso Quijano

IES Alonso Quijano is a public center for compulsory secondary education and Bachillerato located in Alcalá de Henares. Its educational project revolves around digital competence, environmental commitment, collaborative work, service learning, and global education with attention to diversity. Among its educational lines are comprehensive education, complemented by cultural outings and language and sports trips; the inclusion of diversity, with elective offerings, reinforcement programs, splits, therapeutic pedagogy, and TGD classroom; the promotion of respect through a coexistence plan; and educational innovation, with the application of new technologies and working methods such as service learning or collaborative work in the classroom. The center has a virtual classroom, access to the Raíces platform, and has been recognized as an exemplary center in the use of EducaMadrid.

Among the programs it develops are the Service Learning program, which links learning with social commitment and which the center has been applying since 2019, the year it was a finalist for the National Service Learning Award; GreenQuijano, in which students work on water, energy, and waste management from the Natural Sciences subject; the Financial Education Program; the 4º+Empresa program, for internships in companies for 4th year ESO students; and the IPAFD program of Institutes Promoting Physical and Sports Activity, with activities in football, basketball, volleyball, chess, and skating.

The regular school hours are from 8:10 to 14:00, with a recovery period from 14:00 to 15:00. Extracurricular activities include the Refuerza Program, on Mondays and Wednesdays from 16:00 to 18:00, and the IPAFD program, on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 16:00 to 18:00. The center has a cafeteria service and a nursing service.
