Ceip Monte Benacantil

CEIP Monte Benacantil is a public school for early childhood and primary education located in the Juan XXIII neighborhood of Alicante. It is defined as a center for singular action and has over forty years of experience. It offers the second cycle of Early Childhood Education (ages 3 to 6) and the stage of Primary Education (ages 6 to 12). Its students mostly belong to social minorities in a low socioeconomic context, and the nearby environment has few natural recreational spaces.

The center develops the educational innovation project "A playground for everyone?", aimed at transforming the playground designated for 4 and 5-year-old students into an inclusive, active, and stimulating space. The project stems from the need to reverse the deterioration of this space and aims to ensure universal accessibility, eliminate gender inequalities during recess, and promote the inclusion of students with special educational needs. The proposal organizes the playground into five distinct areas: symbolic play, a library-playground with an outdoor reading space, psychomotor activities with circuits and games painted on the ground, a nature area, and a creativity zone that utilizes walls to install blackboards.

The methodology of the project relies on the active participation of students, who contribute proposals and take the lead in execution to reinforce their sense of belonging and care for the environment. The center also shares its educational project and promotes initiatives and activities such as "March 8. The women of Benacantil" and those dedicated to Peace Day.
