Escola l'Estel is a public school in Barcelona that provides Early Childhood and Primary Education. It organizes activities in communities of small, medium, and large children, and its educational project is centered around values such as respect, solidarity, responsibility, autonomy, tolerance, coeducation, cooperation, and sustainability, with the aim of forming committed and reflective citizens. The school believes that any space and moment of the day is relevant for the education of children, and offers both Spanish and Catalan as working languages.
Among its educational proposals are workshops, camins (learning and free experimentation scenarios with materials and proposals, in which children from different groups participate), racons (simultaneous cognitive, manipulative, and symbolic activities linked to the linguistic area), and classroom projects that start from the class name chosen by the students. Each year, the faculty selects a theme for an interdisciplinary project for the entire school that culminates in an exhibition. It also develops a library project, with an annual reading theme around which the space is themed, and a dining project understood as an educational tool. The center has an initiative to transform the playground as an outdoor educational space for play and relationships, and offers activities outside of school as part of its global learning approach.
The school promotes, together with Nau, the pedagogical project Escena en Joc, a theater workshop, and has participated in Flic Flac Circ. It has a gym and playground, provides dining services and extracurricular activities, and offers a virtual tour to explore the ground floor, gym, playground, and communities of large, medium, and small children. It publishes the monthly magazine Secrets d'Escola, which involves teachers, students, and the AFA, and has mixed commissions from the school.
