Escola Pax

Escola Pax is a public school in Tarragona that offers the first cycle of Early Childhood Education (0-3), the second cycle of Early Childhood Education (3-6), and Primary Education (6-12). Students are organized into groups of petits, mitjans i grans. The school provides a cafeteria service and extracurricular activities, and the language of instruction is Catalan. Families participate in the educational community through the AFA.

Its pedagogical approach includes the school library project and a digital strategy for the school. The school participates in the FAIG (Fent per Aprendre Imaginant Globalment) innovation program, which aims to educate children to be critical, responsible, and transformative individuals in their environment, positioning them as key agents in solving real-world problems through creative and innovative solutions. In the field of robotics, students program Dash robots and control them with their voice. Other developed projects include EscolAqua, which revolves around the question of what water we want to drink, the Slow Food project, where second-grade students acted as cooks in the cafeteria, and the Superhero School Project. The school has a forest in its surroundings, which is used as a learning space.

Throughout the school year, outings and activities are organized, such as attending the theater to see Robin Hood in English, visiting the Mina Eugènia in Bellmunt del Priorat, or the excursion to Les Set Cabretes de Botarell. Fourth-grade students participated in the Amics de Pedra cantata at the Teatre Tarragona, and the school received a visit from teachers from the Conservatory of Tarragona for a musical activity. Poems by Olga Xirinacs are also studied, and students participate in the Olga Xirinacs Children's and Youth Poetry Contest, as well as in traditional Catalan dance performances alongside other schools in the city.
