Escola Rossend Giol - ZER Baix Priorat

Escola Rossend Giol is a public school located in Porrera, part of the ZER Baix Priorat, a grouping of rural schools that includes the centers of Bellmunt del Priorat, El Masroig, and Porrera. It offers Early Childhood Education, both in its first cycle (0-3) and in the second (3-6), as well as Primary Education (6-12), with Catalan as the language of instruction.

Throughout the school year, the center celebrates various festivities and events linked to the environment and the community. Among them, the Castanyada, with the decoration of the school and the preparation of panellets alongside families, and Carnival, which in one of its editions revolved around the center's own project "Som personetes fent oficis." The School Day of Non-violence and Peace is also commemorated with related activities and readings.

The center develops environmental education activities and knowledge of the surroundings: visits from the rural agents of Priorat to explain their task of protecting the natural environment, sessions on nocturnal birds led by the Taxus association, and participation in the release of a bird of prey. Additionally, students use virtual reality glasses, as part of a dissemination project promoted with the support of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili and the Diputació de Tarragona, to observe content in three dimensions.
