Cerrado De Calderón is a bilingual semi-private school located in the Cerrado de Calderón area of Málaga, with over half a century of history since its inception in 1971. It offers early childhood education (second cycle, ages 3 to 6), primary education, compulsory secondary education (ESO), and Bachillerato (upper secondary, ages 16–18). Its educational project is based on four pillars: quality education, education in values such as respect, responsibility, and solidarity, sports, and culture. The school works to promote habits of physical and mental health through sports activities.
The school is bilingual and maintains an agreement with the University of Cambridge that allows students to prepare for and take the official English certification exams at the school, through the Cambridge English for Schools program, which is also available in Bachillerato. In this last stage, there is also the option to participate in a Debate and Oratory group, along with academic and professional guidance. In early childhood education, a manipulative methodology is employed that includes a language development program, robotics, chess, play as the basis for learning, challenges and tasks, thinking routines, emotional education, cooperative work, a creativity diary, and neuromotor circuits. The introduction to English at this stage is based on orality and play, and music, body expression, sports, and swimming are also included. The school promotes collaboration with families and the physical, emotional, social, intellectual, and personal development of students.
Among its complementary services are health care, psychopedagogical services, morning classroom and breakfast, school transport, and a cafeteria. The school has a program of extracurricular activities of a recreational nature and sports schools whose teams compete in school and federated leagues. It also develops the Honduras Project, which allows for collaboration through direct donations to the ACOES Foundation or through sponsorship.
Tuition is free in the state-funded stages. The school may ask for voluntary contributions and charge for services such as lunch.
