Centro Santa Bárbara is a secular semi-private school located in the Centro district of Madrid, managed by the San Andrés and Santa Bárbara Cooperative. Its history dates back to 1985 and includes compulsory secondary education (ESO), Bachillerato (upper secondary, ages 16–18), and vocational training (FP), with both intermediate and higher-level cycles, including the Teaching and Socio-Sport Animation cycle.
Its educational project revolves around personalized education, focusing on the personal skills and learning of each student, and a bicultural learning approach that works on the English language and culture. The center promotes methodologies that encourage cooperative work among students, along with processes of innovation and educational research supported by continuous teacher training and result analysis. The cooperative has also launched a Spanish School for Foreigners, specialized in teaching the Spanish language and culture, and a Leisure School aimed at training monitors.
The center promotes linguistic and cultural exchanges, such as the one it maintains with Cannes (France), and stays abroad. Its mission is oriented towards the integral development of students, stimulating their personal and moral maturity, as well as their intellectual and social capabilities.
Tuition is free in the state-funded stages. The school may ask for voluntary contributions and charge for services such as lunch.
