Escola Les Salines - ZER Les Salines

The Escola Les Salines is a public center that provides Early Childhood Education (first cycle, from 0 to 3 years; and second cycle, from 3 to 6 years) and Primary Education (from 6 to 12 years). It is part of the ZER Les Salines, a rural school grouping that integrates schools from Biure, Boadella, Les Escaules, and Maçanet de Cabrenys.

In the early stages, emphasis is placed on learning through play. Symbolic play corners, heuristic play, construction, experimentation, observation, stories, music, and psychomotricity are used, in addition to an outdoor space.

Throughout the school year, activities such as the Setmana Cultural, traditional celebrations (Castanyada, Dijous Gras, Dia de la Pau), and projects like Conarte (theater) or Àrees educatives amb Gisfera are organized. English language is also worked on through traditions like Halloween.

In this project, primary students study and improve a nearby natural space. For example, on one occasion they chose the small forest above the cemetery and studied its fauna and flora.

The center has a cafeteria service and has a nearby bus stop in Maçanet de Cabrenys.

Coexistence and the bond between the school and the rural environment are encouraged, working jointly with families and the community. During celebrations like the Castanyada, families dance and have snacks together, and on Dijous Gras, a walk is organized, and the 5th and 6th-grade students prepare lunch for the whole school.
