ESAD Escola Superior de Arte Dramática de Galicia

The Escola Superior de Arte Dramática de Galicia (ESADg) is a public center for higher artistic education located in Vigo. Established in 2005, its educational offerings include the three specialties outlined by current legislation: Acting, Stage Direction and Dramaturgy, and Scenography. The teachings are delivered in Spanish and Galician, within the Spanish curriculum, and the center is committed to the development of the Galician cultural, scenic, and theatrical system.

The building, the first of three that will make up the institution's final headquarters, was constructed with the collaboration and funding of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). Among its facilities are an auditorium with 125 seats, dressing rooms and a technical storage area, an outdoor theater, practical classrooms for acting, stage direction, oral and body expression, dance, and music equipped with lighting and sound equipment, scenography classrooms, characterization and costume classrooms, a computer design classroom, and an artistic drawing classroom, theoretical classrooms and seminar rooms, changing rooms for students and teachers, meeting rooms, rooms for departments and administrative services, and green areas. The center also has a cafeteria and dining room.

The Álvaro Cunqueiro library houses a bibliographic and documentary collection of over 7,700 records and has 40 workstations with computers and internet access. Its resources support the teaching and research of students and faculty, as well as researchers and professionals in the performing arts. Both students and faculty can use the facilities, classrooms, and resources of the center for work related to teaching and learning processes, creation and research, and other projects and programs of the school, through the established application procedures.
