CEO TEJEDA

CEO Tejeda is a public compulsory education center located in the municipality of Tejeda, in Gran Canaria. It offers Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) for ages 12 to 16.

The center has a cafeteria and school transportation.

It is an initiative aimed at giving visibility to a long-distance trail that spans over 600 kilometers and connects La Graciosa with the Orchilla lighthouse on the island of El Hierro. It seeks to generate awareness about the natural, ethnographic, and cultural heritage of the Canary Islands through direct experience.

The project was promoted by teachers Elena Rodríguez Hernández, from Geography and History, and Antonio Sosa Vega, from Physical Education.

It was worked on with all courses at the center through the Competence Improvement Plan, with the necessary adaptations for each level. In January, the Contramapas team, led by Manuel Cabezudo, visited the center to give a training talk.

A group of fourteen ESO students undertook a three-day route, from June 15 to 17, along part of the trail in Gran Canaria. The experience combined hiking with cultural visits to heritage sites and an environmental volunteer action of waste collection.
