Institut Les Planes

Institut Les Planes is a public secondary school located in Santa Bàrbara. It offers compulsory secondary education (ESO) (ages 12-16) and Bachillerato (upper secondary, ages 16-18), with Catalan as the language of instruction.

The school develops various projects of its own. Among them is "Com sona l'ESO", which has been running since the 2010-11 academic year, consisting of a gathering of students and music teachers from public secondary schools who come together for four days to prepare and offer a joint concert. The project aims to take everyday musical work outside the classroom and provide students with the experience of performing live on stage. Other projects at the school include the Aula d'Excel·lència, the relationship with the environment, the reading promotion plan (IMLEC), the Generació Plurilingüe program, "Ara escric" and "A Cel Obert".

The institute participates in the Erasmus+ program in school education, with student and teacher mobility, and maintains a radio station, La Plana Ràdio, which promotes joint initiatives with the Department of Languages. ESO students participate in the Proves Cangur and go on field trips, such as to the Sénia River to study the biodiversity of the river ecosystem, or the 3rd ESO Treball de Síntesi on drought and barrancada. The school has digital books, Moodle, GSuite, and iEduca, and offers photocopying services.
