Escola Bressol Fàbregas

Escola Bressol Fàbregas is a public center in Sant Feliu de Llobregat. It started in 1973 as a cooperative founded by a group of teachers with pedagogical concerns in early childhood. In 1993 it was municipalized by the Sant Feliu City Council. Over the years, the center has changed locations and expanded its facilities to meet demand. It was first located in an old farmhouse, then moved to CEIP Gaudí. In the 2012/13 school year, the city council built a new building. Since 2012, Fàbregas has been an educational center for ages 0-3 that hosts the nursery school and other services for early childhood and families. It offers Early Childhood Education with the first cycle (0-3 years) and second cycle (3-6 years).

The educational project is based on a conception of the child as a competent subject, capable of thinking, observing, participating, deciding, and establishing emotional bonds and diverse relationships to achieve autonomy. Individualized attention is provided, and educational value is given to all moments and sequences of activities, with special attention to daily life and personal care (health, nutrition, hygiene, and rest). The support of the teachers focuses on direct observation. The spaces are safe and prepared to create learning situations. The school welcomes the child and their family with respect, affection, and trust, taking into account diversity and the socialization process.

Family participation is one of the fundamental pillars. Collaboration with families in the care and education of their children occurs within a framework of cooperation and trust, and different stays and participation opportunities are offered. The team consists of teachers, support educators, and service personnel. Continuous training and shared pedagogical reflection are fundamental axes of teamwork, coordinated in educational planning and decision-making, seeking a climate of understanding and trust. The team includes the director, the pedagogical coordinator, the tutor educators of each group, support educators, the psychologist from CDIAP, the cook, the cleaner, and the maintenance staff. Additionally, the school trains students in internships, welcoming students from the University and training institutes during the school year.
