IES SAN SEBASTIÁN DE LA GOMERA

IES San Sebastián de La Gomera is a public secondary school located in the municipality of San Sebastián de la Gomera. It offers compulsory secondary education (ESO) and also provides Bachillerato (upper secondary, ages 16–18), as well as the curricular diversification program (PDC) in the second year of this stage. The school has two buildings, the José Aguiar Building and the Pedro García Cabrera Building.

Among its own projects is "La Orquesta," a musical group made up of students from the school, which has been featured on television. The institute celebrates activities throughout the school year such as the Day of the Canary Islands, with a program of initiatives aimed at valuing the traditions, culture, and heritage of the archipelago, and promotes educational and cultural outings and visits. Thus, students from different courses have taken excursions to parks in Tenerife, historical and artistic visits to La Laguna, coexistence days in Playa Santiago, talks on sports disciplines such as triathlon, an end-of-year trip for 4th year ESO, and a pilgrimage experience along the Camino de Santiago for 1st year Bachillerato. The school also organizes visits to other educational facilities, such as the CIFP de La Gomera, so that students can learn about the available training options.
