Villar Palasi

CEIP Villar Palasí is a public school in the Community of Madrid located in San Fernando de Henares. It offers Early Childhood Education (second cycle, from 3 to 6 years) and Primary Education (from 6 to 12 years), with Spanish and English among its working languages. It provides cafeteria service, school transport, and extracurricular activities. Its educational project includes a multisensory classroom, a classroom called Soles, and a program for students with high abilities, in addition to an English project known as EnglishVillar. The center is defined as a space with its own identity, built over the years thanks to the work and commitment of the educational community, and organizes informational meetings for families at the beginning of the school year, including those aimed at families of 3-year-olds and 1st grade students.

The school was inaugurated in 1975. It is a preferred center for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, so part of its project is aimed at adapting spaces to the needs of these students and promoting inclusion as outlined in its Educational Project. In this framework, it develops the Project (re)thinking the playgrounds, focused on transforming outdoor spaces as areas for learning, play, and coexistence. The project seeks to create livable, natural, and inclusive playgrounds, expand play options beyond sports fields, and leverage the potential of the preschool playground for psychomotricity, socialization, and symbolic play. It is carried out through a participatory process involving teachers, students, non-teaching staff, and families, coordinated by a driving group, and includes the incorporation of specialized advice in the transformation of school spaces. The project was launched in September 2019.
