Escola Vila Parietes

Escola Vila Parietes, in Parets del Vallès, is a learning community: an inclusive school model where families participate in the education of children. The project is supported by successful educational actions whose effectiveness is scientifically validated to improve performance and coexistence, and involves all people who influence learning, from teachers and families to associations, entities in the environment, and volunteers. Its principles are that all students have the capacity to learn, the need to multiply interactions and make use of all resources, collaboration through equal dialogue, the enriching value of cultural and capability diversity, and solidarity as a criterion for the functioning of the center, the classroom, and the educational community.

Among the practices developed are interactive groups, dialogic literary gatherings, the tutored library, and the brave club. In mathematics, it applies the OAOA methodology (Other Algorithms for Arithmetic Operations) in all courses, based on the manipulation of diverse materials to understand the meaning of operations and concepts such as numeration or geometry.

In early childhood education, learning environments are organized, spaces where children observe, experiment, build, imagine, and relate to others, which are distributed over several afternoons a week. The work on habits and routines, present in early childhood and continued in primary education, seeks to enhance autonomy, socialization, and the acquisition of healthy habits and coexistence. The center also works through projects and learning situations, with students as protagonists, and pays attention to emotional education. It incorporates educational robotics to develop creativity, teamwork, and interest in research, and organizes the reading sponsorship, where students from the last courses accompany the beginning of reading for the youngest. Another activity is the protagonist of the week, a rotating oral exhibition that works on orality and active listening. The playground is conceived as a space for play and also for learning. The center provides early childhood education and primary education and has a dining service and extracurricular activities.
