Llar D'infants El Lledoner

The public nursery school El Lledoner is located in Montornès del Vallès and caters to the stages of Early Childhood Education first cycle (0-3 years) and second cycle (3-6 years). Its educational action is based on individualization, respecting each child's developmental pace; globalization, understanding that the child perceives reality as a whole; and meaningful learning, relating new information to what they already possess. The methodology aims to be motivating and to encourage discovery, experimentation, relationships, and communication. The center has celebrated its 20th anniversary with an open day for those who have been part of it.

Play constitutes the fundamental activity. Through it, children develop psychomotor and cognitive skills, as well as their social and emotional dimensions, and apply what they have learned to everyday life. Importance is given to freedom of movement: children are not forced to adopt postures or movements for which they are not prepared, and spaces and furniture are adapted. Adults accompany and respect movement through observation. In the case of the youngest, going barefoot is encouraged to promote muscular development, motor coordination, and awareness of position and movement.

Free movement allows children to move towards the spaces that interest them most according to their developmental stage, with the accompaniment of educators. Rooms, corridors, and gardens are opened when the majority are ready to expand their circle of safety. The spaces are conceived as environments for play, meeting, and experimentation, safe and promoting relationships and communication. The materials, largely unstructured, are selected by the teaching team to respond to each child's developmental moment; the adult proposes and accompanies silently, intervening with open questions.
