Escola Joan Abelló

Escola Joan Abelló is a public center for early childhood and primary education in Mollet del Vallès. It provides early childhood education and primary education, the latter organized into initial, middle, and upper cycles. The working languages are Catalan, Spanish, and English. Among its services, it offers a school cafeteria and AFA.

In the classroom, the center uses manipulative proposals and cooperative learning. In the initial cycle, English is taught through work groups, and weekly workshops are also held that cover science, art, STEAM, robotics with simple robots, English, and oral expression. In first grade, language is taught with rotating stations of manipulative materials (reading comprehension, vocabulary, spelling, and grammar), and mathematics with colored and sized rods. In English classes, a mascot accompanies the students throughout the year as a motivational resource.

In early childhood education, psychomotricity plays a significant role and is carried out both in the classroom and in the playground, taking advantage of the outdoor space. Students go on outings and excursions to natural environments and local institutions and facilities, such as farms and fields, the Aquarium, the theater, the municipal police, or road education activities. The center participates in the XTEC network and uses educational digital resources and platforms.
