Colegio Nuestra Señora del Pilar, known as Salesianas Plaza Castilla, is a semi-private center located in the Tetuán district of Madrid. It offers early childhood education, with the first cycle (0-3 years) and second cycle (3-6 years), and primary education (6-12 years). Its educational project is complemented by the stages of secondary education, Bachillerato (upper secondary, ages 16–18), basic vocational training, and medium and higher vocational training degrees. Teaching is offered in Spanish, with the presence of English, and the center has a cafeteria and extracurricular activities.
The early childhood stage is approached with closeness and Salesian values, with a comprehensive focus that attends to personal and academic development. In primary education, the organization is structured around subjects and areas of a global and integrative nature, with attention to study habits and work, as well as the development of artistic sense, creativity, and affection. In secondary education, the project focuses on technology, English, and entrepreneurial spirit, along with self-confidence, critical thinking, and personal initiative. Bachillerato emphasizes linguistic competence, analysis and critical judgment of current events, teamwork, and the application of the scientific method. Basic vocational training offers practical and accessible training, and vocational training degrees combine theory and practice in specific sectors.
The center participates in the European Erasmus+ program, through which students in medium and higher vocational training can carry out their internships in companies from other European countries. These activities have been developed since 2010, with more than 50 students awarded scholarships to complete their training in workplaces in countries such as the United Kingdom, Ireland, Malta, Germany, or Poland, and several teachers have also completed training courses abroad. The center has signed collaboration agreements with more than 25 European companies and has the renewal of the Erasmus charter. Through the consortium of Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, medium vocational training students can also participate. The selection of vocational training students is carried out according to published criteria, taking into account their academic scores.
Tuition is free in the state-funded stages. The school may ask for voluntary contributions and charge for services such as lunch.
