El Desvan Ii

El Desván is a leisure and free time center for children and youth that develops its intervention from both formal and non-formal education. It was founded in 1992, focusing on the involvement of parents in the educational process of children and the family itself. It is designed as a comprehensive program of global attention to childhood and their families, in which parents, educators, and families participate, projecting the center towards citizen participation in its immediate environment.

Its educational spaces are organized by stages: playroom for ages 3 to 6, children's club for ages 6 to 12, youth club for ages 12 to 16, and family school, with no age limit, that actively and participatively incorporates families. The center has a dining room, playground, computer room, school transport, and extracurricular activities. The team consists of management, coordinators, and monitors from different spaces, educators, and support staff in classrooms, maintenance personnel, and volunteers.

Throughout its history, it has coordinated with Health Centers, Social Services Centers, and associations focused on child care. Among its lines of action are an annual integration and coexistence program aimed at families with minors, women's working groups focused on family conflict and relationships between mothers and children, and parent schools for the neighborhood population. The Seguir Creciendo Family Association, arising from the organization of the center's families, participates in the education of children and supports the project, as well as promoting adult training initiatives to improve parenting and leisure activities for families and adults. The Apoyo Voluntario Vallecas Todo Cultura entity manages and develops the project in the Vallecas district.
