About the school

Reggio Infant School is a private early childhood education center for the first cycle (0-3 years) located in the Las Tablas area of the Hortaleza district, Madrid. Its educational project is inspired by the experience of the municipal schools of Reggio Emilia, Italy, and what is known as the pedagogy of wonder. The center presents itself as a family rather than a school.

The space is organized according to the principle of the 'third teacher' by Loris Malaguzzi. Children have the freedom to move around the classrooms and hallways, which are also part of the educational environment. The classrooms are themed, and prepared environments are created to foster learning, experimentation, communication, and research. The organization of physical space is considered essential. Ideas from Emmi Pikler regarding freedom of movement are also incorporated. The proposal is complemented with activities such as storytelling, light workshops, music, and art workshops.

To learn about the project, the school organizes open house days every two weeks from February to May, as well as individual appointments. The center is well connected, with nearby access to metro and commuter trains, making it easy to reach from different points in Madrid.
