CEIP Gabriela Mistral is a public school located in the Hortaleza district of Madrid. It opened its doors in the 2005-2006 school year and offers Early Childhood Education (second cycle) and Primary Education. It is a bilingual center in Spanish and English, part of the bilingual centers program of the Community of Madrid. During the 2007/2008 school year, it was an experimental bilingualism center, and since the 2008/2009 school year, it has been officially bilingual. Starting from the 2017-2018 school year, the bilingual program was expanded to the second cycle of Early Childhood Education, within the new bilingualism program of the Community of Madrid.
The center has a cafeteria service. Its educational project is based on integral education, democratic and participatory management, effort and success, active learning, and a bilingual environment. Additionally, it aims for students to acquire knowledge, values, and social skills, and to come to school happy, where they learn, play, experiment, and interact. The center is defined as open and encourages family participation in the educational project.
