Ecole Maternelle Française Pomme D'api (Frances)

Ecole Maternelle Française Pomme d'Api is a private early childhood education center located in the Hortaleza district of Madrid. It was founded in 1989 by Michèle Cuesta and is a French secular school that caters to children aged 2 to 6 years. It is situated in the residential area of Parque Conde de Orgaz, in a quiet environment with large green spaces and close to the Lycée Français de Madrid. Since 1997, it has occupied its current facilities.

The teaching follows the official programs of the French Ministry of Education, as the center has been part of the AEFE (Agence pour l'Enseignement du Français à l'Étranger) since 2007, and is under the control and supervision of the Cultural Service of the French Embassy. French is the primary language of instruction, and the center covers all early childhood education, from the end of the first cycle (2 years) to the complete second cycle (1st, 2nd, and 3rd of preschool). The teaching staff is native French and qualified in pedagogy specialized in early childhood education, working under the supervision of the French National Education Inspector and the Pedagogical Advisor for the Iberian Peninsula. Additionally, four hours per week of Spanish language are taught by teachers certified by the Spanish Ministry of Education, under the supervision of inspectors from the Education Department of the Community of Madrid. Students at Pomme d'Api are guaranteed a place at the Lycée Français de Madrid to pursue primary education once they complete their preschool stage at the center.

The center offers extracurricular activities such as judo, dance, introduction to English, introduction to programming and robotics, and musical initiation taught in French. During the festivities in October, February, Holy Week, and July, it organizes French camps in its facilities, also open to students not enrolled in the center, with manual and motor activities. The facilities include an auditorium and playground, and the center provides a cafeteria, school transport, and extracurricular activities, with Spanish and French as languages.
