Vasco Nuñez De Balboa

CEIP Vasco Núñez de Balboa is a public school located in the Fuencarral neighborhood of Madrid, providing Early Childhood and Primary Education to students aged 3 to 12 years. Its schedule is continuous, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and it offers a cafeteria service from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and extracurricular activities from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The school opened its doors on June 20, 1928, and its first students formed the Salcedo Bermejillo school groups.

The school presents itself as a small and family-oriented center. In Early Childhood Education, it has two classrooms, one for students aged 3 and 4 years and another for 4 and 5 years, and in Primary Education, it has four classrooms that group the courses of 1st and 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th, and 6th. Mathematics is taught through the EntusiasMAT project, based on multiple intelligences and aimed at adapting to each student's abilities, with thinking routines, problem-based learning, and cooperative work, along with play, manipulation, and experimentation as transversal axes. The center's primary objective is collaboration and understanding among families, teachers, and students.

The school applies the open classroom methodology: during the first two hours of the morning, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, mathematics and language are taught throughout the center, with students distributed in classrooms according to their level. During the midday recess, from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM, a different activity is organized each day that students can sign up for, such as Zumba, traditional games, crosswords, or logic games. After finishing 6th grade of Primary Education, students can continue their studies at the affiliated institutes Dámaso Alonso or San Fernando.
