About the school

San José School, belonging to the Augustinian Missionaries, is a Catholic semi-private center located in León. It offers early childhood education (both first cycle, ages 1 to 3, and second cycle, ages 3 to 6), primary education (ages 6-12), and compulsory secondary education (ages 12-16). It also offers Bachillerato (upper secondary, ages 16–18), although this stage is not subsidized. The center has two lines per stage in early childhood education, primary education, compulsory secondary education, and Bachillerato.

Regarding its educational project, the school is bilingual in English. The bilingual section started in September 2009 and expanded to compulsory secondary education in the 2015-16 school year; the entire primary education stage is bilingual. Additionally, the center was a pioneer in incorporating classrooms with interactive digital whiteboards and internet connectivity, allowing for interactive and innovative pedagogy. In the first cycle of early childhood education (ages 1-3), it works with Montessori methodology, with two authorized and subsidized classrooms (ages 1-2 and ages 2-3), guided by an international AMI guide. This methodology is based on prepared environments, freedom of choice, concentration, and self-learning, covering areas such as psychomotricity, sensory stimulation, introduction to reading, mathematics, and cultural learning. The school also develops areas such as Pastoral, Arts, Physical Education, and English.

Among the services offered to families are the school cafeteria with its own kitchen and menus adapted to different dietary needs (celiac disease, allergies, etc.), an early morning service starting at 7:30, and a nursery-playroom during the month of July. It also has a psychopedagogical office, extracurricular activities, a textbook and materials purchasing service, and participates in the Releo Plus free textbook program. The center organizes general meetings at the beginning of the school year with families and an adaptation period for new students in early childhood education. The general schedule of the center is Monday to Friday from 9:30 to 17:00.
