Las Cigüeñas

Las Cigüeñas is a public school integrated into the Network of Public Infant Schools of the Community of Madrid. It provides the first cycle of Early Childhood Education and enrolls children from 0 to 3 years old. It is located in the district of La Avanzada-La Cueva, in the municipality of Fuenlabrada, and has over ten years of experience in the socio-educational and cultural context of its environment. Its main purpose is to educate happy children, basing learning on the bond and well-being of the student with the people around them and the school environment.

Regarding services, the center has a cafeteria, which is mandatory for enrolled students. Monthly menus are prepared with criteria for balanced and healthy nutrition and are adapted to the gradual introduction of foods, respecting the indications of families or pediatricians regarding the transition to complementary or solid food, with a distinction between the weekly menu of purees and that of solids. Specific menus are also prepared for students with allergies, intolerances, or medical needs that pose a risk to their health.

The school offers extended hours in the morning, until 08:40, and in the afternoon, from 16:00 to 16:30. It has a free Early Attention service aimed at children with special educational needs, whether temporary or permanent, arising from deficiencies, developmental disorders, or the risk of suffering from them; it consists of a set of interventions aimed at promoting their optimal development and maximum personal autonomy, reducing the effects of a disorder or disability, and facilitating family, school, and social inclusion. It also has a psychopedagogical office and tutoring, understood as a permanent support for each family to guide them in the educational process of their children, based on the knowledge of the student and their needs.
