Proa

L'Escola Proa is a semi-private school of social initiative. It was created in 1966 by a group of families from the Bordeta neighborhood linked to the Parish of Sant Medir and the Escola de Pares de Barcelona. That group of families gave rise to the Associació de Famílies Bordeta-Sant Medir, the entity that currently holds the center. The school was born with the intention of being active, democratic, of quality, and rooted in Catalan culture.

The center offers early childhood education, primary education, compulsory secondary education (ESO), and Bachillerato (upper secondary, ages 16–18), with Spanish and Catalan among its languages. In early childhood education, it works through environments, understood as integrative learning spaces that allow children to explore and learn freely and creatively, promoting their development and personal autonomy. It also has an English project aimed at improving students' language skills through specialized classes, diverse activities, and support from qualified teachers. In Bachillerato, it offers an artistic modality.

Among its projects, the school develops a program for emotional health and well-being, in which the tutorial action is oriented towards the personal and academic development of students, with emotional support, tools for conflict resolution, and the promotion of values such as coexistence, responsibility, and empathy. In ESO, it carries out a cooking project that combines practical learning with nutritional education, culinary techniques, knowledge about healthy eating, and sustainability, using a collaborative methodology. The center also participates in educational activities around food waste and sustainability, and collaborates with other centers in the field of reading competence. Furthermore, it acts as a teacher training center, receiving visits from students of seminars who learn about its educational project and pedagogical practices.
