About the school

CPEE Príncipe de Asturias is a public special education center located in Aranjuez. Its educational offer is organized into Special Early Childhood Education, which welcomes students aged 3 to 6; Compulsory Basic Education, structured in three cycles covering ages 6 to 16 (Cycle I for ages 6 to 8/9, Cycle II from 8/9 to 12 years, and Cycle III from 12 to 16 years); and Training Workshops, which include students from the stage, aged 18 to 22 years, and a Pre-workshop cycle for ages 16/17 to 18 years.

In the Special Early Childhood Education stage, a playful methodology is employed aimed at integral and harmonious development in the physical, cognitive, and affective-social areas. In Compulsory Basic Education, the objectives are drawn from the curriculum of the Early Childhood and Primary stages of the Community of Madrid and are adjusted to the curricular competence level of each student. The center promotes autonomy in areas such as hygiene, nutrition, and mobility, and encourages communication through all possible means (oral, pictographic, and signed), giving curricular content a functional character so that learning is useful in daily life and generalizable to other environments.

The center has a dining room with its own kitchen, where menus are prepared daily and the service is free for all students. It offers five school transport routes to cover the different residential locations of the students, also at no cost. It has the attention of two University Graduates in Nursing, who carry out socio-health tasks with the students and their families. In the current school year, an extracurricular football activity is offered, promoted by the AMPA of the center, which trains twice a week and aims to promote healthy habits, relationships among peers, and the inclusion of students in their immediate environment.
