Alkayasí

The SEP Alkayasí is a permanent education section for adults integrated into the CEPER 500 Viviendas, in Almería. It serves three neighborhoods in the capital: El Alquián, La Cañada, and Llanos de La Cañada. Only the La Cañada neighborhood has its own space, located in the building of the City Hall; in the other two cases, the activities are adapted to the available spaces, such as the Public School Ferrer and Guardia in Llanos de La Cañada and the first floor of the Community Center in El Alquián.

The students of the section come from these neighborhoods and adjacent areas, with a predominantly female attendance. This is a population that attends the center to complete their basic education, obtain a qualification that allows them to enter or remain in employment, learn Spanish in the case of students from foreign backgrounds, or start using new technologies. The served neighborhoods are characterized by their proximity to the capital, an economy based on agriculture under plastic, and their status as urban expansion areas, with El Alquián well connected by urban public transport.

Along with the rest of the CEPER 500 Viviendas, the section has developed digital training actions, whose certificates are awarded to the students. The center is publicly owned, offers compulsory secondary education (ESO) and Bachillerato (upper secondary, ages 16–18), has Spanish as the language of instruction, and includes a library, cafeteria, and extracurricular activities.
