Virgen De La Paz

CEIP Virgen de la Paz is a public school in Collado Mediano, in the Community of Madrid, that offers Early Childhood and Primary Education (from 0 to 12 years old). The school is identified as an eco-school and has a school radio, as well as a parent-teacher association (AFA) that develops its own initiatives and publishes an annual calendar whose proceeds are allocated to a playground project.

The center participates in the ACCEDE book loan program and has maintained a healthy breakfast program for several years. This consists of a weekly planning of the lunch that students bring for recess, aiming to reduce the consumption of sweets and industrial pastries; the school's dining committee prepares materials with suggestions directed to families. The initiative began in Early Childhood Education and has also extended to Primary Education. The school also offers extended hours services, "Primeros del cole" and "Últimos del cole - Ludoteca", managed through the Mancomunidad.

Among its projects, the center participates in Deslizar, an innovation initiative linked to the Museo del Prado that works with art as a learning pathway for Early Childhood and second-grade Primary students. In one of its editions, dedicated to ecology and sustainability, the school developed the project "Somos barro" based on a proposal from artist Ana Ausín, with support from museum educators and collaboration from Art Explora. Students visited the Museo del Prado to view the original works and participated in an artistic workshop, with free visits and transportation; families were later able to take a visit and a workshop with the same works. The center also publishes a school newspaper.
