Escola La Sedeta

Escola La Sedeta is a public school in Barcelona, located in the Horta-Guinardó district, offering Early Childhood Education (first cycle, 0-3 years, and second cycle, 3-6 years) and Primary Education (6-12 years). Catalan, Spanish, and English are part of its linguistic proposal.

The center places the child at the center of its educational action and organizes students into the communities of Petites, Mitjanes, and Grans. Its learning model prioritizes the respectful accompaniment of each student. Throughout the year, various projects are developed: in early childhood education, each group chooses the name of their class and creates a project to learn about it; each year, a different artist is worked on, such as the pianist and artistic creator Carles Santos; in sixth grade, a project is carried out to understand the functioning of the political system, linked to a visit or workshop at the Palau de la Generalitat; and students from I4 and I5 participate in a reading mentorship by older primary school peers, who tell them stories. In the Mitjanes community, computational thinking is worked on with a weekly session aimed at solving problems logically and organized, and mathematics is approached as a living tool, prioritizing reasoning over mechanical memorization. In the Petites community, plastic production is worked on to develop artistic creation. Outings and excursions are understood as key moments of the educational project and are complemented with sports outings within the area of physical education. The center has the Espai Migdia and the support of the AFA, and participates in the Escola Tàndem program.
