Escola Agrupació Sant Jordi

Escola Agrupació Sant Jordi is a public center in Fonollosa that provides Early Childhood Education (second cycle, from 3 to 6 years) and Primary Education (from 6 to 12 years), with Catalan as the vehicular language. The center presents itself as a "living school" and organizes its educational project around axes such as discovery, respect, creativity, community, and growth.

Music is one of the identity traits of the center. Throughout the week, students engage in numerous musical activities, particularly the study of an instrument: violin, cello, guitar, flute, clarinet, drums, and piano teachers provide weekly classes to Primary students, so that by the end of their schooling, they have basic knowledge of one or two of these instruments. Nature is also part of the school project through experimental work in various spaces and proposals: throughout their schooling, children investigate, observe, and reflect on seeds, flowers, aromatic plants, and Mediterranean crops such as cereals, olives, vines, and gardens, complemented with a composter, a chicken coop, and a pond. The forest surrounding the center is another area of interest. The art project is inspired each year by artists, periods, or movements — including Miró, Guinovart, Tàpies, Picasso, Anthony Caro, Viladecans, Isao, Munch, Joaquim Mir, Gargallo, Chillida, Warhol, or Barceló, as well as expressionism, impressionism, Catalan sample tiles, and Romanesque — working from prompts that guide the tasks of students and teachers and establish points of contact between the techniques or themes of the author or movement and the environment or personal experience of each child.

The center offers a school dining service and has the support of the AFA. The school calls for aid, in collaboration with Amics i Amigues de l'Escola de Fonollosa, aimed at facilitating the participation of all students in play and skill activities (Early Childhood Education), music (Primary Education), and outings and camps (Early Childhood and Primary). The center has carried out renovation and expansion works on its facilities.
